When making your lip gloss, you can customize it to give it your favorite scent or color, and you can even add glitter if you want a little shine. Chances are, you already have many of the ingredients you need at home. Use beeswax for a firmer lip gloss, petroleum jelly for a simple 2-ingredient blend, or coconut oil for a hydrating boost. Lip gloss is easy and fun to make, and you can also earn enough to share with your friends!

Vaseline Lip Gloss

  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) petroleum jelly
  • Essential oil (optional)
  • Colored lipstick (optional)
  • Beet powder or blush for color (optional)
  • Shine to shine (optional)

  1. Place 2 tablespoons (30 ml) of Vaseline in a microwave-safe container. If you don’t have petroleum jelly, use some other type of petroleum jelly.
  2. Add 1 teaspoon of lipstick to the container with the petroleum jelly. If you don’t have lipstick, you can also use eyeshadow or blush to add color to your lip gloss. You can also add 1 to 2 drops of your favorite essential oil or a small pinch of glitter to the mix at this time.
  3. Microwave the mixture for 10 to 30 seconds. Place the bowl in the microwave and set the timer for 10 seconds to start. Check after that time to see if the ingredients have started to melt. If not, leave it on again for another 10-20 seconds.
  4. Use a disposable spoon to mix the Vaseline and lipstick.
  5. Transfer gloss to clean lip gloss containers.

Let the lip gloss cool for about 20 minutes before using it. These glitters are great to keep in a purse or desk, and they also make great gifts. Once it’s cold, it won’t be runny and will be the perfect consistency to use.

  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) cocoa butter
  • 3 capsules of vitamin E
  • Essential oil (optional)
  • Lipstick for coloring (optional)
  • Beet powder or blush for color (optional)
  • Shine to shine (optional)

  1. Melt the coconut oil and cocoa butter together in the microwave. Measure 2 tablespoons (30 ml) of coconut oil and 1 tablespoon (15 ml) of cocoa butter into a small microwave-safe bowl.
  2. Cut the tips of 3 vitamin E capsules and extract the liquid from them. Add the vitamin E capsules to the mixing bowl.
  3. Add lipstick or essential oils if you want a scented or colored lip gloss. You can also use small amounts of eye shadow, blush, or beet powder to add color to your glow.
